The Greene County Medical Center leadership team on Tuesday announced the appointment of Chad H. Butterfield as chief financial officer of the medical center, effective June 29, 2020.
Butterfield comes from Olathe Health Physicians Inc in Olathe, KS, where he served as director of business affairs since 2012. He provided business leadership for 35 ambulatory locations, including overseeing four clinic practices – internal medicine, general surgery, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.
Prior to his position at the physician clinic, Butterfield served as director of finance with the Olathe Health System, Inc, where he was responsible for a finance department of approximately $300 million annual net revenue for the health system.
He brings a wealth of clinic and ambulatory business experience, overseeing accounting, audit, budget, charge master, payroll, and strategic analysis for two hospitals and 35+ physician clinics during his time in Olathe. His experience also includes responsibility for developing and maintaining physician contracting, clinic business operations and physician compensation models.
“Chad’s 28 years of health care finance experience, along with his success leading a high-performing finance department in Olathe, will prove to be valuable experience for Greene County Medical Center as we continue to navigate the rapidly evolving and changing health care industry,” said medical center CEO Tracy Warner.
Butterfield began his career at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa in Des Moines, later transitioning to Mercy Medical Center as a reimbursement analyst, also in Des Moines. He earned a bachelor of arts in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa, and has a master’s in business administration under way from the University of Saint Mary in Overland Park, KS. His ties to Iowa also include family in northwest Iowa.
Chad and his wife Tammy have children ages 23 and 22, and in their spare time they enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Butterfield will begin his duties at Greene County Medical Center in early August.
